Portfolio Re-Edit & Layout Design:

Niall O’Brien

Niall O’Brien’s printed portfolio was in need of an update that showcased a harmonious collection of his fine art and storytelling documentary photography alongside select commercial commissions. Following visual inspiration rooted in the classic art book format, the resulting presentation experience is one that encapsulates the artist’s accomplished oeuvre both practically and psychically.

“Annika’s help towards me as a photographer has been invaluable. Her understanding of photographic layout and flow [in my portfolio] was incredibly helpful in an area I struggle with and don’t like to hand over so easily. Annika clearly understands the medium and what my aesthetic in particular is about, therefore being able to add a strong perspective to my work. Her connection to advertising agencies and magazines is impressive and the meetings we have booked over our working relationship were all met by creatives and producers who spoke so highly of Annika.”

Press Pitch & Exhibition Proposal:

Luke Abby and Carlos Darder - Falling in Love

Luke Abby and Carlos Darder’s creative collaboration–their self-photographed story of Falling in Love–made its way to the pages of a self-published limited-edition book before the desire took hold to publicly display the images to a wider-reaching audience. This project involved deep international research into the print/online editors, independent publishers, and art book stockists communities, in addition to the burgeoning and underground fine art galleries existent in New York City. The resulting press features included i-D/Vice, Office, Paper, OUT, KALTBLUT, Fräulein Magazin, Fucking Young!, dsection., WÜL Magazine, and Behind the Blinds, among others.

Falling in Love is an intimate portrait of love found and realized.

Photographers Luke Abby and Carlos Darder met in Mallorca in the summer of 2019 and immediately became enamored with one another. What unfolded is a visual diary of impassioned sensuality, physical and emotional exploration, and the uninhibited rapture between two muses, spanning two continents.

Falling in Love is a reverie of unadorned pleasure.

Mikaela Gauer - Artist Bio

As part of a larger website re-edit and re-design collab, Mikaela Gauer’s artist bio was rewritten to better clarify her personal interests and skillset. The bio’s tone was staged to complement the elegance of her refined visual aesthetic, all the while honoring her curious spirit.

Mikaela Gauer is a Canadian photographer and creative director based in New York City.

A lifetime pursuit of international travel and diverse cultural experiences has directly informed her artistic point-of-view, which joins together subject and environment with particular focus on the unique qualities of each.  Through a strategic lens Gauer creates sophisticated and aspirational imagery that is both timeless and contemporary for a variety of modern day luxury lifestyle brands. Her clients seek her out for her innate ability to clearly decipher a brand’s individual attributes and deliver bespoke content that is distinctive as much as it is compelling.

Gauer’s love of adventure has taken her over to 50 countries worldwide. She’s found beauty in every corner of the earth, and her profound intention is to capture and celebrate all of it.

“I hired Annika to re-edit my photography website and craft a biography that truly spoke to my process and aesthetic as a creative director and photographer. Our collaboration was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable as Annika is sharp, intuitive, and super organized. She really cares about her clients, and took the time to deep dive into my work - to understand not only my career goals but who I am as an individual. She was able to distill years of my work into a carefully curated website portfolio, and provided me with a compelling written biography that truly articulates who I am and what I do. She also shared her invaluable industry experience through recommendations that will definitely take my work to the next level. I highly recommend working with her!”

- Mikaela Gauer, photographer/creative director

Portfolio Edit & Layout Design:

Rosie Matheson

U.K.-based emerging photographer/director Rosie Matheson was without a portfolio and on her way to the U.S. for a series of new client meetings. During the editing process particular focus was placed on Matheson’s personal project, “Boys”, the very nucleus of the artist’s ongoing fascination with modern interpretations of masculinity and gender identity. Tender portraits of British adolescents intersect with sports & streetwear fashion, music, and editorial commissions with a seamless fluidity, illustrating the young artist’s remarkably pointed and distinct visual and thematic point-of-view. The portfolio’s layout takes a less traditional approach by embracing the culturally relevant and boundary-pushing nature of Matheson’s work, incorporating the page spreads’ gutter and white space as an added design element.

“Although working together overseas (London-NYC), Annika made it feel like I was right there the whole time. Her vast experience, sharp eye and deep understanding of the industry was invaluable and meant she could translate the chaos of hundreds of folders of my work into a fresh, tasteful and exciting perspective of my photography for my first printed portfolio. It has made a huge impact on my meetings, particularly with creative and advertising agencies with the portfolio leading the conversation and resulting in future commissions. Annika is thorough, understanding, extremely reliable and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Art & Content Editing:

SUITED Magazine - Eileen Quinlan

As the Art Editor for SUITED Magazine I have been privileged to collaborate with many artists and writers, and fine art photographer Eileen Quinlan and queer/feminist art historian & writer William J. Simmons are among my most prized experiences. Working closely with the issue’s art director and designer we developed a visually dynamic presentation of my image selections, mimicking a mini retrospective of the artist’s past ten years of photographic works.
